Description
A splendid walnut pedestal desk in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. Of fine construction in walnut with attractive flame walnut veneers. The rectangular top is fitted with a sumptuous 3 section green leather writing surface which is decorated with gilt tooling. The edge is surrounded with a carved gadrooned border and further carved decoration can be found throughout the desk. There is an arrangement of one long central drawer flanked by a two sets of 4 shorter, graduated drawers. All drawers are fitted with their original brass swan-neck handles. The corners of the desk are canted and the sides are of paneled construction. The whole thing stands on squat cabriole legs terminating in characteristic ball and claw feet. This desk is finished to the reverse so it could be free-standing within a room if desired. We have had this lovely desk sympathetically repolished to a very high standard. It is now offered for sale in excellent overall condition with a great colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home or office.Dimensions:
