Description

A superb and rare double sided roll top desk from the George III period. The front side with a tambour desk sitting over an arrangement of 2 short over 3 long graduated drawers, the rear of the desk with a series of 2 short over 4 long graduated dummy drawers. All drawers are fitted with their original solid brass swan-neck handles. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive "plum pudding" mahogany veneers and of generous proportions. The tambour opens to reveal a fitted interior with pigeon holes, stationary drawers and a baise lined pull-out writing surface. The writing surface is surrounded in satinwood banding, this banding continues to the exterior of the desk. The tambour roll top is lockable (key supplied). The whole desk stands on wonderful original lignum vitae castors. This fine quality desk is offered for sale in excellent condition, with a wonderful colour and patina. An opportunity to acquire a lovely genuine period desk of a very rare design.
