Description
An attractive serpentine shaped French writing table , or desk. Made from a good grade of solid walnut with wonderful burr walnut veneers. Now with a warm and rich colour and patina. The front and sides are all serpentine in form. The top is inset with a sumptuous red leather writing surface which is decorated with gilt tooling. There is an arrangement of one long central drawer , flanked by 4 shorter drawers. All drawers are lockable (key supplied) and lined in solid oak. They also each have a very attractive carved escutcheon, a real style feature. This carving continues to the knees and feet. The legs are elegant, elongated cabriole shaped.
