Description
A superb quality mid-Victorian period burr walnut work/sewing/writing/table. Very well made in solid walnut with stunning burr walnut veneers. The rectangular top is decorated with fine inlaid detailing and surrounded with a crisply carved gadrooned edge. The drawer pulls out to access the work/sewing bag. Inside the drawer is a button which is used to trigger a release mechanism to lift the top. The top is raised to reveal fitted compartments and a writing slope with a leather surface. The whole table stands on carved scrolling supports united by an under-stretcher and terminating in original brass and ceramic castors.
