Burr Walnut Serpentine Sideboard
An excellent burr walnut sideboard in the Queen Anne style. Well made in solid walnut with stunning burr walnut veneers. It is of a sweeping serpentine form and has a lovely depth of colour and patina. Ample storage is provided by a pair of a central cupboards flanked by two banks of 3 drawers, all fitted with their original brass handles. There is a fitted drawer within the cupboards. The serpentine shaped top is cross banded and surrounded by a gadrooned edge. The whole sideboard stands on elegant cabriole legs decorated with carved detailing to the knees and feet. We have had this sideboard sympathetically repolished to a very high standard and is now offered for sale in excellent condition.

A very good quality burr walnut sideboard by the renowned London firm of Maple and Co. Of good construction in walnut and attractive burr walnut veneers, in the Queen Anne style. The top is surmounted by an upstand to the rear with a central carved crest. The main body of the sideboard has a pair of end cupboards flanking two , long, central drawers. The cupboards are lockable (key supplied) and open to access shelved interiors. The drawers are fitted with their charming original brass drop handles and the top drawer is compartmentalised for cutlery. The whole sideboard stands on elegant cabriole legs with carved shell decorations to the knees. We have had this item sympathetically repolished to a very high standard . It is now offered for sale in excellent condition, with a lovely mellow colour and patina.

Maple & Co was established by John Maple, a shopkeeper from Horley, Surrey, who later opened a furniture shop in Tottenham Court Road. However it was his son, John Blundell Maple , who made Maples & Co a success. With exceptional business skills, John B. Maple took over the company while still a young man. By the 1880s they were the largest furniture store in the world, exported their fine furniture to every continent.
Maples manufactured their luxury furniture entirely in-house, at a huge modern complex. A timber importer and furniture exporter, they landed prestigious contracts furnishing fine houses, hotels, embassies and palaces in Europe; among them Tsar Nicholas’s Winter Palace and the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna . With his own empire established, John Blundell Maple achieved further fame in politics and horseracing – some lines, such as the Atherstoke antique cabinet, having racing connections in the titles.
Never compromising on quality, Maples produced a huge catalogue of fine furniture, covering every avenue of interior design. A Maples & Co sale today would cover everything from Chippendale Revival antique dining chairs , to Aesthetic style carved oak dressers, to Art Nouveau tulip carved antique dining tables – all from the same catalogue.
The exclusivity and high quality of craftsmanship of Maples’ antique cabinets, dining suites and bedroom furniture made them highly popular with Britain’s social elite. Today, they appeal to anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship.

The shaped top is surmounted with an up-stand with a central crest and is surrounded by a crisply carved gadrooned edge. The storage space is afforded by two long central fitted drawers flanked by a pair of deep drawers. All drawers are fitted with their original brass handles. The table stands on strong, elegant cabriole legs with carved decorations to the knees. This table could serve in the dinning room, living room or hallway. Ipswich Oak Dresser Base
A good quality Ipswich oak dresser base , or sideboard. Well made from solid English oak, now with a warm colour and patina. It is well decorated throughout with lovely carved detailing. Inlaid Mahogany Bow Fronted Sideboard
An excellent inlaid mahogany sideboard from the late 19th Century. Of compact proportions and of very good construction in solid mahogany and attractive flame mahogany veneers. Made in the Sheraton style with characteristic tapering legs terminating in spade feet. The bow-fronted top sits over a central drawer, flanked by a deep drawer and a cupboard. The central drawer is cross banded and the two outer doors are decorated with inlaid oval panels. All drawers/doors are lockable with the key supplied. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition. With a great colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home.

Burr Walnut Sideboard
A very good burr walnut sideboard dating from the 1920's. Very well made in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers. There are a pair of drawers sitting over a pair of cupboard doors. The left hand drawer has a fitted cutlery tray and the cupboard doors open to reveal a shelved storage space. To the top there is a small up-stand and the whole sideboard stands on bun feet. Fitted with its original brass hardware and with decorative strap-work hinges. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition with a nice mellow colour and patina. Ready to go straight into the home, an attractive and very practical piece of furniture.

Art Deco Oak "Grape and Vine" Sideboard
A splendid solid oak sideboard from the Art Deco period. Of good construction in solid English oak and of wonderful shape. Decorated throughout with crisply carved "grape and vine" pattern. Linen Fold Oak Sideboard
A lovely solid English oak sideboard. Of good construction and with a nice mellow colour and patina.
