Chippendale Revival Mahogany Display Cabinet
A superb late Victorian period mahogany display cabinet in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. Of fine construction in solid mahogany and attractive flame mahogany veneers. The top glazed section has a pair of glazed doors (lockable with key supplied) which open to access a shelved interior. The cabinet sits on an ornate base with carved detailing throughout, a stylised x-frame under-stretcher and "lions paw" feet. The cabinet has canted corners decorated with harebells and crisply carved rams heads. This lovely cabinet is offered for sale in excellent condition. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops , it has a wonderful colour and patina and is ready to go straight into the home.

Victorian Inlaid Burr Walnut Baby Sutherland Table
A very fine example of a mid-Victorian burr walnut "baby" Sutherland table. Of fine construction in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers. The oval top is decorated with fine inlaid detailing and the two flaps can be set down when not in use. The base is in solid walnut and embellished with crisply carved detailing. This charming table has been sympathetically repolished in our workshops to a very high standard and is now offered for sale in excellent condition. The glazed section of the cabinet is surmounted by a triple dome top. The base section has 3 cupboard doors which open to access further storage. All doors are lockable with keys being supplied. This bookcase is of relatively compact proportions so would easily fit into most homes. We have had it sympathetically repolished to a very high standard. Burr Walnut Partners Writing Desk by Maple and Co.
A fine quality Edwardian period burr walnut partners writing table, or desk in the Queen Anne style. Made by the prestigious London firm of Maple and Co. and fitted with Hobbs and Co locks. To the front there is an arrangement of one long central drawer flanked on either side by a pair of shorter drawers. All drawer fronts are cross banded and fitted with their original brass handles. To the rear there is a pair of cupboard doors flanking a central recess. The top of the table is fitted with a 3 part sumptuous black leather writing surface which is decorated with blind and gilt tooling. All standing on elegant cabriole legs with carved detailing to the knees and feet. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard and now offered for sale in excellent condition with a great colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home or office.

Maple & Co was established by John Maple, a shopkeeper from Horley, Surrey, who later opened a furniture shop in Tottenham Court Road. However it was his son, John Blundell Maple , who made Maples & Co a success. With exceptional business skills, John B. Maple took over the company while still a young man. By the 1880s they were the largest furniture store in the world, exported their fine furniture to every continent.
Maples manufactured their luxury furniture entirely in-house, at a huge modern complex. A timber importer and furniture exporter, they landed prestigious contracts furnishing fine houses, hotels, embassies and palaces in Europe; among them Tsar Nicholas’s Winter Palace and the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna . With his own empire established, John Blundell Maple achieved further fame in politics and horseracing – some lines, such as the Atherstoke antique cabinet, having racing connections in the titles.
Never compromising on quality, Maples produced a huge catalogue of fine furniture, covering every avenue of interior design. A Maples & Co sale today would cover everything from Chippendale Revival antique dining chairs , to Aesthetic style carved oak dressers, to Art Nouveau tulip carved antique dining tables – all from the same catalogue.

Inlaid Mahogany Channel Islands Linen Press
An attractive inlaid mahogany linen press from the Channel Islands. Very well constructed in the late Georgian period in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. The top section has a pair of cupboard doors (lockable with key supplied) which open to access a interior with two fitted shelves. The base section has a series of 3 long , graduated drawers , each fitted with imposing brass handles and escutcheons. The press is surmounted by an over-sailing cornice. The whole piece is decorated throughout with refined inlaid detailing including shell motifs to the cornice and skirt. It stands well on swept bracket feet. A splendid late 19th century French mahogany vitrine , decorated in the Vernis Martin style. Of very good construction in solid mahogany (with a good colour and patina) and embellished throughout with crisp ormolu mounts. Decorated with classical hand-painted scenes in the Vernis martin style. The ormolu mounts include a central panel to the top freeze depicting cherubs. Victorian Walnut Marble Topped Chiffonier
A superb walnut chiffonier, or sideboard, with a marble top from the mid Victorian period. Of excellent construction in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers. Of serpentine form with a pair of central , mirror glazed , doors which open to access a shelved interior. The doors are lockable and keys are supplied. The open ends are shelved and mirror backed (some foxing to mirrors commensurate with age). The white marble top is in excellent condition and is removable for transit and installation. The central cupboard doors are flanked by a pair of imposing scrolling carved supports in solid walnut. The open end sections are flanked by carved floral decorations. An excellent burr walnut pedestal desk of generous proportions. Of very good construction in the Queen Anne style with attractive burr walnut veneers. The desk top is fitted with a sumptuous 3 panel brown leather which is decorated with gilt tooling. There is an arrangement of one long central drawer flanked by two sets of graduated shorter drawers. All drawers are fitted with their original brass swan-neck handles. The whole desk stands on short cabriole legs with carved shell decorations to the knees.
