Inlaid Mahogany Oval Occasional Table
An Edwardian mahogany occasional table in the Sheraton style. Of oval shape and well made in solid mahogany , with mahogany veneers and inlaid detailing. The top with a central inlaid musical scene and with cross banded borders to the edges. The rest of the table is decorated throughout with checker banding inlay. The tapering legs are united by an x-frame under-stretcher and terminate in their original brass castors. This charming occasional table is offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home.

Inlaid Mahogany Pedestal Desk
A splendid late 19th Century inlaid mahogany pedestal desk. Of fine construction and of generous proportions. Well made in solid mahogany, attractive mahogany veneers and oak drawer linings. The top has a stunning arrangement of a 3 section black leather writing surface, with gilt tooled decoration and with inlaid banding in satinwood. Further banding and inlaid stringing is found throughout the desk , including to the sides and rear , so that this desk could be free-standing with a room if desired. To the front there is an arrangement of 1 long central drawer, flanked by 2 sets of 4 graduated drawers. All fitted with their original brass handles. To the rear of the desk are "dummy" drawers. A further feature are the slides which pullout from the sides of the desk top thereby increasing the working surface area. The desk stands on good bold ogee bracket feet. We have had this lovely desk sympathetically refinsihed in our workshops to a very high standard. It is now offered for sale in excellent condition with a great colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home or office. Splits down into 3 sections for ease of installation.

Inlaid Mahogany Pedestal Desk by Edwards and Roberts
A fine quality inlaid mahogany pedestal desk by the renowned cabinet makers Edwards and Roberts of London. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. The desk is decorated throughout with inlaid satinwood stringing and banding. The break-fronted rectangular top is fitted with a sumptuous black leather writing surface, decorated with gilt tooling. There is an arrangement of one long central drawer flanked by two sets of 4 shorter graduated drawers. All drawers are fitted with their original brass swan-neck handles. The pedestals are of stylish, tapering form and they stand on elegant splayed legs. This desk is finished to the reverse so could be free-standing within a room if desired. We have had it sympathetically repolished to a very high standard.

By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.

A very fine quality inlaid mahogany pedestal desk of generous proportions by the renowned cabinet makers Maple and Co. Very well made in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. The desk is decorated with inlaid stringing and satinwood cross-banding throughout. It is finished to the rear so could be free standing with a room if desired. There is a series of one long central drawer, flanked by two banks of 4 graduated drawers. All fitted with their charming original brass handles. There are also a pair of pull-out trays to expand the working surface. This desk is of inverted break-fronted form with a gentle concave shape to the breakfront. All standing on ogee bracket feet. The top is fitted with a sumptuous black leather writing surface which is decorated with blind and gilt tooling. It splits into 3 pieces for ease of installation. We have had this desk sympathetically repolished in our workshops to a very high standard. It is now offered for sale in excellent overall condition, with a wonderful colour and patina. It is ready to go straight into the home or office.

Maple & Co was established by John Maple, a shopkeeper from Horley, Surrey, who later opened a furniture shop in Tottenham Court Road. However it was his son, John Blundell Maple , who made Maples & Co a success. With exceptional business skills, John B. Maple took over the company while still a young man. By the 1880s they were the largest furniture store in the world, exported their fine furniture to every continent.
Maples manufactured their luxury furniture entirely in-house, at a huge modern complex. A timber importer and furniture exporter, they landed prestigious contracts furnishing fine houses, hotels, embassies and palaces in Europe; among them Tsar Nicholas’s Winter Palace and the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna . With his own empire established, John Blundell Maple achieved further fame in politics and horseracing – some lines, such as the Atherstoke antique cabinet, having racing connections in the titles.
Never compromising on quality, Maples produced a huge catalogue of fine furniture, covering every avenue of interior design. A Maples & Co sale today would cover everything from Chippendale Revival antique dining chairs , to Aesthetic style carved oak dressers, to Art Nouveau tulip carved antique dining tables – all from the same catalogue.
The exclusivity and high quality of craftsmanship of Maples’ antique cabinets, dining suites and bedroom furniture made them highly popular with Britain’s social elite. Today, they appeal to anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship.

Inlaid Mahogany Pembroke Flap Table
A splendid Edwardian period mahogany Pembroke table. of fine construction in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. These veneers have an almost iridescent quality, similar to that exhibited by satinwood. The table top and flaps are decorated with a pattern of ebony stringing inlay, this stringing continues to the front, rear and down the legs. The single bow fronted drawer is fitted with its original charming ebonised small bun handles. The tables flaps can be raised (and supported) into position when desired. A fine quality revolving bookcase by the renowned firm of Maple and Co. Made from a very good grade of solid mahogany timber and decorated with inlaid detailing and attractive veneers. The top is inlaid with a central circular panel and checker-banding to the edge. This checker banding is repeated on the skirt at the bottom of the bookcase. Inlaid Rosewood Cylinder Desk by W J Mansell
A fine quality, late Victorian period, inlaid rosewood cylinder desk. Of excellent construction by the prestigious London cabinet makers W J Mansell of Fulham Road. Made with attractive rosewood veneers onto a mahogany carcas. Decorated throughout with fine inlaid detailing, including floral and musical scenes and, swags and harebells. The top fitted with a 3/4 gallery. The lockable drawer pulls out and by doing so retracts the cylinder fall-front to reveal a fitted interior. The flap then folds down to reveal the writing surface fitted with a sumptuous blue leather. All standing on elegant tapering legs which terminate in spade feet. This desk is finished all around so it could be free standing within a room if desired.
