A fine quality inlaid mahogany bonheur du jour by the prestigious cabinet maker Edwards and Roberts of London. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers, cross banded in tulip wood. Decorated throughout with exquisite and profuse inlaid detailing of floral swags , garlands, harebells and neo-classical urns. The top section with a pair of convex cupboards flanking a central drawer, all surmounted by a brass gallery. To the lower section is a series of 4 drawers, all standing on elegant tapering legs. Supplied with working locks and keys. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard. Now offered for sale in excellent overall condition with a wonderful colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home.

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
