Description
A splendid burr walnut bureau bookcase of slender proportions. Very well made in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers in George I style. The top section has a single opening door (lockable, key supplied), fitted with a mirror. It opens to reveal a shelved interior. The top is surmounted by a wonderful fret-work crest with a central gilded shell motif. The bureau has an opening, lockable fall , when down supported by a pair of pull-out loppers. Above this sits a pull-out candle stand. The interior is fitted with a leather writing surface and an arrangement of pigeon holes, stationary drawers and a small lockable cupboard. The base section also has a pair of shape-fronted drawers , fitted with their original brass drop handles. The whole piece stands on elegant cabriole legs with carved shell motifs to the knees. We have had this charming bureau cleaned, polished and waxed in our workshops. It is now offered for sale in excellent condition with a wonderful colour and patina,Dimensions:
