A lovely mid-Victorian period X-Frame stool of generous proportions. Well constructed in solid walnut, now with a mellow colour and good patina. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops and offered for sale in very good original condition. The upholstery is also in good order. Bearing original retailers label to the underside.
F Danby’s was a 19th century cabinet makers and upholsters run by Francis Danby in the Upper Headrow of Leeds, West Yorkshire. The company carried out work for the Council Chambers in Leeds having made the seats and fittings for the local council building. According to the 1871 census, F Danbys was recorded as employing 14 men and 2 boys.
